What is Sweet Skates?

Sweet Skates is a fully equipped pop-up roller rink that sets up right in your community — no permanent building required. We bring the floor, the lights, the music, the skates, and the good times.

Founded by Rachel Brooks and Chris Sheff of Carterville, Illinois, Sweet Skates exists because southern Illinois deserves a place to skate. We're community first, always.

Every session is family-friendly, radically inclusive, and designed to feel like the best night of your week.

Frequently Asked Questions 🍬

Do I need to know how to skate?
Not at all! We have skating aids for brand new skaters and staff to help you find your footing. If you can walk, you can skate.
What skate sizes do you carry?
Rental skates from toddler size 7 through adult men's size 16. We have something for everyone in the family.
Is there anything for non-skaters?
Absolutely! We have a bouncy castle for little ones, full concession stand, great music, and plenty of seating. You don't have to skate to have a great time.
What should we wear?
Comfortable clothes you can move in. Tall socks are strongly recommended — they prevent blisters from skate boots. Bring layers for evening sessions.
Can I bring my own skates?
Yes! Personal skates are always welcome. Just make sure they're quad roller skates — no inline skates on the rink floor please.
What's your weather/cancellation policy?
Sessions cancelled due to weather receive a full Rain Check Voucher valid for any future Sweet Skates event. We'll always notify ticket holders as early as possible.
What payment do you accept?
Cash, card, and Venmo accepted at the door. Easiest is buying tickets in advance on Eventbrite to guarantee your spot!
Do you do birthday parties?
Yes! We offer private session rentals for groups and birthday parties. Contact us at sweet.skates.il@gmail.com to discuss dates and pricing.
